Tagger Dive Suits was created in 2004 because our daughter started competitive diving, and the cost of swimsuits was very high and she was going through them quickly because of the chlorine.
Since I made my son's skating clothes, and clothing for our family, I decided to give swimsuits a whirl. My first suit was terrible! Too big, too baggy, not the right cut ... it looked horrible. I didn't even let my daughter wear it. My second attempt was better, but our diving coach gave me some constructive critiscm ... eventually, by my fifth suit, I had a winner. "It's your masterpiece," said our coach.
"Bring some to the competition this weekend," they said to me -- "Some?" I asked. "How many was some?", I wondered. Well that night I cut out five suits from left over fabric, and made them up.
When we started our second year my kids helped me create the name Tagger Dive Suits ? after our cat Tagger. We made and sold over a hundred suits that year, just to the diving community in Ottawa and Toronto.
In our third year, we renamed the company TaggerWear to better reflect the wider scope of clients we serve and the broader range of products we offer. Our production increased to 100 suits a month. And we're still growing!
Catch a Tagger at the pool; you will find us in diving, swimming, synchro, and waterpolo; at the gym, and on the rink. You may even find a Tagger on the beach somewhere too....
In 2007, TaggerWear launched a new line of products for our clients -- teamwear. We started making custom jackets, pants, shorts, and tops for women's aquatic sports clubs. We extended the line of clothes to include yoga and athletic wear for men, women, and children.
By 2008, we have grown to staff five sewers and are servicing aquatic sports across Canada as well as clubs and individuals in the United States.
By 2010, we have sold to swimmers as far away as Norway, Sweden, Singapore, and Puerto Rico! Our brand is building and each year we add new styles to the already long list of swimwear we make.
In 2011 we launched a brand new line of clothing: dance wear. As a result of my husband and myself starting ballroom dance lessons, we became involved with the ballroom dance community. Of course, one of the first questions I got was "do you make dance clothes?" Not being one to shy away from a challenge, we started designing and manufacturing practice dance skirts in a variety of fabrics. They are already a hit!
Also in 2011, we have added a new service to our company: custom printed fabric. Together with our supplier, we now can develop custom fabric designs for our client club's team suits. This could be a logo, custom colours, even a funky print repeat.
Our goal remains: Provide not only athletes, but everyone, with quality, custom-fit swimwear and athletic wear for a fair price; not one that will break your bank.
