Six Months of Pandemic

Well here we are, a little over six months after closing down in March.

The world has "reopened" and a second wave has started of COVID-19.

TaggerWear has pivoted once more. We have moved to new premises, stored most of our manufacturing equipment, and we are focusing on fabric retail and sewing education.

It's a leap of faith.

People don't want to go shopping as much any more because of the risks. They are interested in making their own clothes again. Sewing has entered a bit of a renaissance.

Sewing Education

We have created a space for customers that is safe. There are four spaced workstations for four students at a time. Each workstation is complete with all the tools they will need. Our cutting table has been set up so that four students can work at it 6 feet apart from each other. It's a bright room with windows all around, making it really nice to sew in.

We've also brought our Dye-Sublimation machines with us -- and can still make custom printed fabric for companies and customers. We've had a wide variety of clients from Cosplayers to parachute makers to wrestlers.

I personally will continue to make dance costumes for those who need them, but individuals only, and not more than one costume at a time. I just don't have the machines anymore.

Adult Social Dance

Speaking of dance, we are still selling Very Fine dance shoes for adult social dance - Ballroom and Latin, Salsa and Swing. In fact we have the best selection in Ottawa. While performance and competitions are not on anyone's agenda just yet, remember that Very Fine does custom shoes and can add rhinestones to just about any style they make! All shoe sales are final because of COVID-19. We place every pair that is tried on into quarantine for a week before putting them back on the shelves.

Stretch Fabric to Live in

We specialize in stretch fabric -- so we have an amazing selection of fabric, not just spandex, but technical and compression fabrics; wicking fabrics, slinky fabrics, velvets, and much more.

There is the right fabric for your stretch-fabric project, whether it's a pair of velvet lined leggings for the winter, or a snuggly fleece sweater for the fall.

If we don't have it in stock, you can look through our books -- there is so much there your head will spin!

Sewing Notions and More

Not just fabric, we have a selection of the tools you need for your sewing project. We encourage rotary cutters because they are more accurate with stretch fabric. Stretch fabric tends to "shimmy" when you cut it, and rotary cutters are best.

Cutters with a squeeze handle are the safest on the market, and we have them. You'll also find sewing rulers, elastics, serger threads (in about 80 colours), Polyester "woolly" thread, needles, pins, you name it. If we don't have it today, we can get it for you.

So we hope you will stop by, see our new space, shop for some fabrics for your next project, or sign up for a workshop. Thank you for being our customers!
